SAEC Campus Committee Involvement

The Alegría Mental Health Task Force supports students, faculty and staff by maintaining a directory of activities and events that promote the mental health and wellness of our campus community and developing resources and opportunities to expand and supplement current offerings. Why Alegría? The word in Spanish translates into English as “joy;” however, it goes further than that. In music, from the Italian, allegro is a tempo that is cheerful and lively: with gusto. Together, we can forge a renewed sense of community and a resolve to create joy together.
This is an administrative committee, whose primary function is to assist the University president in the coordination, development and maintenance of short- and long-range plans for the campus.
The Arboretum Committee is a subcommittee of the CPC.
The arboretum committee serves as a pride point for the university and the community as a whole. The role of the Arboretum Committee is to provide a clear and understandable process for review and evaluation of the goals outlined in its charge, among them are the following:
Make recommendations for development of the Campus Arboretum, landscape plans and new planting, including new acquisitions for the collection.
Review landscaping and security issues with University Police Department.
Provide a voice related to the Arboretum, sustainability, and urban forest issues. Enhance community involvement in and commitment to the Arboretum. Support the Arboretum accreditation process.
SAEC has been appointed a seat on the Academic Senate.
The Academic Senate represents the Fresno State faculty. It is composed of faculty elected to represent all of the university’s departments and programs. Under the university’s constitution, it is empowered to formulate, review, revise, and adopt all policies regarding the university’s educational mission, including matters directly affecting the institution’s budget. Through the Academic Senate, the faculty has the primary responsibility the university’s most fundamental responsibilities of curriculum, methods of instruction, research and creative activity, faculty status, and those aspects of student life related to the educational process. Most importantly, the Academic Senate defends the academic freedom of all faculty at Fresno State consistent with the principals laid down by the American Association of University Professors.
Joint decision-making and consultation between the faculty and the administration is based on collegiality, mutual respect, and trust among all parties. Collegiality consists of a shared decision-making process and set of values regarding the members of the various university constituencies as essential for the success of the academic enterprise.
Purpose: Responsibility for information technology governance at Fresno State is delegated by the President to the Chief Information Officer. The Technology Steering Committee supports information technology governance by serving as the formal campus-wide advisory committee to the Chief Information Officer.
This broadly represented group charged with:
● Advising on long-term strategic directions in the areas of information technology, including teaching and learning technology.
● Advising on implementation priorities for the short-term on all information technology issues such that long-term objectives are accomplished.
● Serving as an oversight and advisory committee on all matters pertaining to campus information technologies.
● Charging interdisciplinary formal and ad-hoc task force committees to advise on strategic initiatives and projects.
● Guide the Chief Information Officer in developing, updating, and reviewing the IT strategic plan in alignment with the campus strategic plan.
● Help develop appropriate metrics and guidelines to assess the IT strategic plan.
● Assist in the development and review of university policies related to IT.
● Review major university IT projects and advise the Chief Information Officer on prioritization.
● Assist in developing annual IT resource requests for the annual budget review process.
● Provide guidance and feedback to the Chief Information Officer and the rest of the IT leadership team.
